Geomatics encompasses:
• Sensors (Remote Sensing, Satellite based Positioning and Navigation),
• Terrain modeling (Digital Photogrammetry, SAR Interferometry, ALTM),
• Spatial analysis (Image Processing and Analysis, Data Mining, GIS),
• Data visualization (Digital Cartography, Fly-through)
• Spatial services (Location Based Services using Internet and Wireless communication)

Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) along with
Wireless Communication (Radio/ GSM/ GPRS/ CDMA/
MSS) have been used for positioning, navigation and
tracking both static and mobile assets.
A strategic combination of remotely-sensed imagery and
satellite based positioning enables spatial analysis to be
carried out for decision making in several areas.
Among the various infrastructure sectors, Transport plays
an important role in the economic growth. Security and
efficiency of the transport systems is determined greatly
on the extent of use of ICT.
In the last one decade, based on its success in design and
development of GPS receivers for Military & Civil, ASL has
successfully deployed GPS based solutions for vehicle
tracking in:
• Public security
• Health services
• City taxi operations
• Call centers (BPO)
Towards this, ASL has also commissioned standalone
applications for Vehicle Tracking Systems (VTS) covering
• GeoConnect
• Transport Management Application (TMA)
• Ambulance Monitoring and Maintenance Application
(AMMA).
Currently, ASL is involved in designing and developing
Web-enabled Geo-Intelligence Solutions for Transport
(G-IST) extending to Location Based Services (LBS) for
wide range of users:
• Public safety agencies
• Military cross-country moving vehicles
• Battlefield management systems
• Call Centre transporters
• School bus operators
• City Cab services
• Ambulance vehicles
• Utility vehicles (Municipalities, Airports, Airlines,
Banks, etc)
• Commercial transporters (Fuel, Cement, Raw
material, Finished and Perishable goods)
• Courier services
• Public transport (intra-city & inter-city)
• Railways
LBS deal with accurate, real-time positioning of mobile users and
delivery of quick response to location-specific information
requirements on mobile devices anywhere at any time.
•During emergency calls, response time can be substantially
reduced if call recipient has information concerning location of
person making call.
• Request may be related to information-of-interest such as
hospitals, restaurants, entertainment, ATMs, hotels, police
stations, traffic, weather etc.
• Response may cover information about location-of-interest
delivered via wireless network.
With current penetration of communication, LBS is driving to become a significance source of revenue for Wireless Service Providers.
ASL is equipped with knowledge and experience in remote
sensing, image processing, photogrammetry, spatial
analysis and modeling, software design and customization,
web application technologies and visualization, and
executes projects and provides consultancies in Geomatics.
ASL is partnering with PCI Geomatics, Canada for
development of Agriculture Geo-capacity Centre Network for
